Roller-skating Into Next Week With Rookie's Rosa Skates

Before I dive headfirst into this blog post, I think it's imperative that I mention the importance of making exercise fun. Truthfully, I can't tell you how many times I have exclaimed that I don't have the time, the patience or the motivation to follow a gruelling regime. But when my vegan friendly, Rookie Rosa Skates arrived this week, my entire perspective shifted and I can now look at workouts as less of a chore, and more of an opportunity to get outside, get moving and really just get some fresh air in my lungs - because lord only knows, we have been indoors long enough throughout this pandemic.

I also just want to take a moment to fully appreciate the detail in the Rosa Skates. From the crisp white boot, to the embellished wheels and embroidered rose - I really am in awe of them and I think majority of the people who follow me on Violet's Vintage are as well at this point.

*Disclaimer - This is not an ad.

Growing up I was really fond of rollerblading, at one point I would have been outside seven days a week, rain or shine, going up and down our street. But I never really did have my own pair, well at-least until now - imagine, it only took me 24 years.

One thing that really caught my eye with the Rosa Skates, was the shape. They have this almost timeless figure skating shape and they also have extra padding which is ideal for someone who hasn't picked up a pair of skates in say, 8 years give or take. And of course, since they have arrived I've barely taken them off. I've been working on balancing, doing bubbles and skating rings around our driveway as a means of finding my groove again - it's been a while ok.

I also adore that there is an entire roller-skating community out there, that I didn't even know existed until I was part of it myself. I'm really hoping that I'll learn a few things from my friends in the community. You know - 101: on how not to fall.

  5. I cannot tell you how long it has been since I have done roller skating! But I totally agree that exercise should be “fun” and enjoyable otherwise there is no point. I am lucky in that I love working out and doing sports but only if I am enjoying it ☺️ Also those roller skates are gorgeous!! X

    1. It feels like it's been forever and a day since I've been out on skates, so I'm very rusty lol! Yes, completely - I feel like when exercise becomes a chore, I'm much less likely to stick with it if that makes sense. I'm all about getting out and enjoying myself, rather than looking at it as a workout these days. Thank you so much! x

  7. I saw these roller skates in a competition on Instagram and totally loved them! I used to love ice skating but haven’t been able to do that for a long time, what with restrictions, etc., but totally almost took up roller skating as a side hobby! My only problem was I couldn’t find a pair I liked enough. I love these ones though, they look beautiful and they’re such a good shape still!

    1. They are fantastic, aren't they! I honestly don't have any complaints about them and they arrived super quickly which is always a plus for me! It's been so hard to do anything with restrictions over the last year, but much like you've said, I've decided to take up skating as a hobby! It's nice to have a reason to get out, especially when the weather is nice x

  8. I've never roller skated and it looks like fun but I'm so afraid I'll fall and break a bone! But I'd love to own those skates of yours regardless; they are stunning!

    1. It is fun, but I completely get that fear factor! I'm terrified of falling, I've actually just purchased some protective gear, because you never know! I started out in my bedroom, where I could cling to things lol! Before I moved outdoors x

  9. I haven’t roller skates or rollerbladed in forever. But I loved it as a kid. Once I have lost some weight I would love to get back into this! Your skates are so pretty! Thank you for sharing.
