Our Sewing Box - Sustainable Scrunchies, Handcrafted In Ireland

Curated by yours truly - if you're passionate about sustainability and sustainable scrunchies at that, then this post is made for you. Over the last few weeks I've been working in the background on a little project called 'Our Sewing Box NI' - a hustle which I have launched alongside my Mum, where we sew, stitch and steam sustainable scrunchies from our family home in Ireland. It's been a long term goal of mine to have a hustle alongside Violet's Vintage, that really just allows me to switch off and get creative and that's something I really feel I have achieved with Our Sewing Box.

To keep it brief; Our Sewing Box NI was launched on May 1st 2021 and is it here that we handcraft sustainable accessories and more i.e. scrunchies from our family home in Ireland. All of our products are crafted from ethical and organic materials, before being wrapped in eco friendly tissue paper and posted with a recycled cardboard box. At present we have zero waste and do our best to repurpose and recycle items where and when we can.

Right now, we have launched with just two products our Abstract Chestnut Scrunchies and our Moonstone Ochre Scrunchies - to really get a feel for how well this little project will do for us. Although I have to admit, I do have some fabric sitting in my cart ready for our next drop and it certainly feels much more surreal now that I've written a whole blog post about it!

I'd love to know what you think of our sustainable scrunchies so far. Are there any colours you want us to look out for? Any patterns? My notebook is at the ready

  2. I love this idea! I've been trying to wear srunchies more as they pull less on my hair. And if you're taking requests, I think a neutral/ black and white check or dog tooth would be a great addition to my wardrobe! 😂

    1. Yes, yes yes! I find they are so much easier on my hair, than a standard bobble :) I'm going to keep a little eye out for more neutral / dog tooth fabrics! I love that idea x
